about

Christmas in the Country has been a staple of The Puddle's live set since 1985. An early version (recorded 1986 by the original Puddle line-up) also appears on the rare student radio sample LP "Weird Culture, Weird Custom".

lyrics

Strange to say I still believe you
You’re in my way
I’ll never leave you
Though the rain falls through the trees sometimes
The water tastes good
And it feels fine
For this is Christmas time
In the country

Dogs are barking
Cows are mooing
Who cares what the world is doing
Inside
Now it's Christmas time
In the country

Though the rain falls through the trees sometimes
The water tastes good
And it feels fine
It must be Christmas time
In the country

When you get out in late December
Do something that you’ll remember
All year
Fools!
It should be like that here
In the city
What a pity
In the city
What a pity
